The City Theatre

The City Theatre Austin, home to The City Theatre Company, is a nonprofit arts organization dedicated to providing high-quality, diverse, and reputable public theatre and stage entertainment accessible to all artists and enjoyed by the entire Austin community.

Sponsored by the Austin Creative Alliance and the City of Austin Cultural Arts Division, the company has produced over 150 shows and 2,000 performances since its founding in 2006. Recognized by numerous awards, including the Austin Critics Table Awards and the B. Iden Payne Awards, City Theatre has been twice voted “Best Theatre Company” by Austin American-Statesman’s Austin 360. Austin audiences rave about City Theatre, with one review noting, “City Theatre…a treasure to be found within the realm of Austin theatre.”
