by Valerie Shams

Summer’s the perfect time to do anything - go to the beach, travel to a new (or old) city, eat lots of good food and perhaps partake in a music festival. If you’re in the UK, you must experience at least one of the amazing London music festivals ASAP. They cater to all music niches.

Hampton Court Palace Festival

Enjoy the English classics? Love the architecture from the early 15th and 16th centuries? Look no further into the Hampton Court Palace Festival where you can enjoy music ranging from Grace Jones to Rick Astley and explore Tudor Courtyard and East Front Gardens all in one go.

History and music lovers will enjoy this festival for two weeks.

Meltdown

Approaching its 28th festival this year, Meltdown is UK’s longest-running artist-based music festival. This year, the mighty Christine and the Queens is curating Meltdown, where we have the curator himself, Django Django, Kokoroko and many more. This festivals lets you turn into a whole sleuth of artists!

BST Hyde Park

Pop and rock lovers rejoice! BST Hyde Park is London’s largest music festival centered in Royal Park. Last year’s lineup was off the charts with Adele, Elton John and Rolling Stones coming all fired up.

This yeas is just as powerful - K-pop stars Blackpink is performing for the first time in the UK. While P!nk, Gwen Stefani, Bruce Springsteen, even Guns N’ Roses and Billy Joel are in the mix. Talk about the explosive music cast at this festival!

Wireless

Hip-hop junkies will love this music festival. Wireless features rap, R&B, trap and grime.

It showcases old-school artists like 50 Cent with new ones such as Ice Spice. Travis Scott, Lil Uzi Vert, and Bryson Tiller. And they’re just some of the many artists that are coming up to Wireless this year.

Even though this is Wireless’ third year in North London’s Finsbury Park, tickets get sold out like wildfire, so cop them while it’s still hot.

Body Movements

A newbie to the London music scene, Body Movements is an LGBTQ+ electronic music festival.
This was received in positive spirits as this festival represented the LGBTQ+ community in London and the UK as a whole.

Last year’s lineup kept people dancing all night with Adonis, Jungle Kitty, Pxssy Palace and many more taking over Hackney Wick, The Yard, Number 90 and the Colour Factory. While this year’s lineup isn’t announced yet, we’re excited to hear what’s to come.

Where can you find more information about the music festivals listed here?

We’ve got hyperlinks here on OTL City Guides that’ll take you right to the music festivals
where they detail more information about the festival themselves, the lineup, ticket costs,
location, etc. You can also bookmark the official London Events Calendar powered by Evvnt for even more fun festivals!

Are the listed music festivals free to the public?

The listed festivals aren’t free. However, they provide early access services and discounts if you purchase tickets in advance.

Some of the music festivals haven’t released their lineups. So, where should you go to view that information?

A couple of ways to get some ideas on who’s coming to any given event would be to look into the music
festival's social media page and sign up for email/text newsletters. Usually, they give sneak peeks on headliners.
