OTL Seat Fillers FAQ
A membership club for people who love arts, entertainment, and a great surprise.
What is OTL Seat Fillers?
OTL Seat Fillers is a private membership club — not a ticket broker and not a ticket seller. Members pay low monthly dues for access to the club and the opportunity to claim complimentary tickets when available.
What are members actually paying for?
Members are paying membership dues for access to the OTL club, private member postings, and the chance to reserve complimentary tickets when OTL's entertainment partners make them available. Members are not paying for tickets, a guaranteed number of events, or unlimited entertainment.
How is OTL different from a ticket broker?
Ticket brokers sell tickets. OTL does not. OTL is a membership club that helps fill seats when entertainment partners have a need. When complimentary ticket opportunities are offered, members may reserve them through the club.
How does OTL work?
You join the club, log into the member area, and check for available opportunities. When complimentary tickets are posted, members can reserve them on a first-come, first-served basis. OTL then sends the reservation list to the venue, and members pick up their tickets according to the event instructions.
Are tickets guaranteed with membership?
No. Membership gives you access to the club and the opportunity to claim complimentary tickets only when available. The number, type, and timing of opportunities vary based on what OTL's entertainment partners provide.
How many invitations will I get?
There is no guaranteed number. Some cities and seasons are busier than others, and some periods may be quiet. OTL memberships are for club access and opportunity — not a guaranteed quantity of shows or tickets.
What kinds of shows and events might be offered?
Opportunities can include theatre, musicals, comedy, music, dance, immersive entertainment, burlesque, opera, symphony, festivals, classes, and more. It all depends on what OTL's partners make available.
Who manages OTL Seat Fillers?
OTL is run by a small family-and-friends team that has been building and managing the club for more than 13 years. We're independent, hands-on, and very real — no giant corporation hiding behind a curtain.
How is this different from awards-show seat filling?
Awards-show seat fillers are used to fill visible camera gaps for televised events. OTL is local entertainment seat filling. Members attend actual shows and events in their area when complimentary tickets are made available through the club.
What should I understand before joining?
OTL is a membership club. Your dues are for access to the club — not for tickets. Complimentary ticket opportunities are never guaranteed, vary by location and season, and depend entirely on partner availability. Members must also attend what they reserve or cancel by the stated deadline.
What do the dues cover?
Dues cover membership access to the club, the member area, and the ability to reserve complimentary tickets when offered. Dues do not purchase tickets or guarantee a certain number of opportunities.
How much are dues?
On-Call U.S. locations: $9.99 or $14.99 for 3 months, then $3.65 or $5.55 per month for 2-seat or 4-seat memberships.
London: £9.99 or £14.99 for 3 months, then £3.65 or £5.55 per month for 2-seat or 4-seat memberships.
Preferred U.S. cities: pricing varies by market and membership level.
Members may cancel anytime, but dues already paid are non-refundable.
Where is OTL available?
Preferred cities: Atlanta, Austin, Denver-Boulder, Los Angeles, San Francisco, London, and NYC.
On-Call cities: Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Nashville, Portland, Raleigh-Durham, Seattle, St. Louis, South Florida, and Tampa Bay.
What about NYC?
The NYC experiment has been so much fun that we've extended it indefinitely. NYC remains a special OTL market featuring a mix of arts and entertainment opportunities as available. See the NYC registration page for current details and pricing.
What about the UK?
OTL has operated in London for many years and offers occasional local opportunities throughout the city. These are generally not West End shows, but may include smaller theatre productions, comedy, immersive entertainment, music, burlesque, and more.
Do you publicly list partner names or seat filler shows?
No. OTL keeps entertainment partner names and specific seat filler opportunities private. That privacy helps protect our partners' public ticket sales and is part of what makes the club work.
How do I get my tickets?
After you reserve an opportunity in the member area, OTL sends the reservation list to the venue. Members then follow the event instructions for check-in or ticket pickup, usually at will call or the box office.
Are sold-out shows included?
No. OTL does not seat fill sold-out shows.
Can I bring guests or family members?
That depends on your membership level. OTL offers 2-seat and 4-seat memberships. Guests must fit within the number of seats included in your membership, unless the venue offers a separate public ticket purchase option.
Is OTL family-friendly?
Some events are family-friendly and some are not. Members should always check the event listing and age guidance before reserving. Members under 21 may not attend events designated 21+.
Can I switch cities or reserve in other areas?
Members can reserve opportunities posted in the member area, but those who live in Preferred markets must join at the proper Preferred level rather than using lower-cost On-Call pricing. If you're unsure which page fits your location, contact us before registering.
Do promoters pay for seat filling?
No. OTL seat filling is free and private for entertainment partners. Promoters, venues, and producers can learn more or submit events through the event submission form.
Can entertainment partners retract tickets after members reserve them?
No. Once complimentary tickets have been offered and reservations are made, those seats should not be pulled back. Partners may add additional seats, but previously reserved offers should not be retracted.
Do you seat fill free public events?
No. Seat filler opportunities must have an associated ticket value. Free public events may be listed on OTL calendars, but they are not posted as seat filler opportunities.
What happens if I reserve and then do not attend?
No-shows hurt OTL's relationships with entertainment partners. Members must attend what they reserve or cancel by the stated deadline. Repeated no-shows may result in loss of membership privileges without refund.
How do cancellations work?
Members may cancel at any time through the Manage My Account area. To avoid the next dues payment, cancellation should be completed at least 72 hours before renewal. Dues already paid are non-refundable.
Can I gift a membership?
Yes. OTL memberships can make fun, unusual gifts for people who enjoy arts and entertainment. Visit the gift page for current options.
